Nonfiction: Polar Bears!

We will be starting to talk about nonfiction and how to write facts.  We will start this unit discussing polar bears and writing about the information we learn about them.

Leadership Quality:  Our new leadership quality is justice.  I will be discussing with the students how to be fair with one another, listen to each person's side of the story before making a judgement, and the difference between tattling and informing.  I will also see what the students believe justice to be.  I will be looking for these qualities in the students throughout this month especially.

3D shapes and the Little Red Hen

Ready for another week!!

Sight Words: said, to

Letter Teams: "ch"

Math: We will continue working on clocks, telling time to the hour!  The kiddos picked this up so fast that we will be adding 3D shapes in the mix as well!

Reading Strategy: I will be adding the new strategy, get a running start.  Once the kiddos sound out each letter and stretch it out, they need to go back and read the whole sentence in order for it to make sense.

***Important***
We have been having some issues with attitudes: talking back and arguing.  We have been talking about the consequences of these actions: no treasure chest and in some cases no recess.  Please talk about these issues with your kiddo! :)  Thank you for your continued support!

Snowmen and Clocks!

This week's theme is Snowmen!  The kiddos had a great week returning to school! I am very proud of them.

Math: I will be introducing telling time to the hour.  Please continue to work on this concept at home!

Reading:  Our new sight words are "friend" and "for."
Letter Teams: ee. Bee, see

Writing: I will be asking the kiddos to write more and more.  Have them tell you stories at home to get those ideas flowing.  Encourage them to write their stories down and read them, or even better, act them out for you!

30's Club and ABC club: I have added a new writing concept to help the kiddos get excited about sharing what they know.  The kids have to write out upper and lower case letters and the numbers 1-30.  Their name is then added to the club list, and they are allowed to choose their favorite candy that I will buy for them.  Some kiddos have already joined these "clubs." Please continue to practice these concepts at home.

Friday backpacks: Please have the students put their backpacks on table #9.  Their folders should still go in the folder pile and their lunchboxes in the blue bin.

Thank you for all that you do!!!
