Apples!

This week is all about apples! We will be counting apples, tasting them, and making apple bread on Friday!

Our new sight word this week is "me."

We will continue to work on our three reading strategies and will begin to break into flexible reading groups.

****Reminder: We will be having our lock down drill on  September 27. Please send in your students' comfort packs.  I only have two so far!****

Funny quote of the week: Singing "It's a Hard Knock Life" when cleaning their desks!

Thanks again for all of the help and support!

Colors!

We finished up talking about different shapes this week and even got to go on a shape treasure hunt.  It was very exciting, and we found many different shapes around campus.  Next up: Colors!!

We have two new sight words this week: the, is.

We will also be starting a new reading strategy: Get your mouth ready for the next sound.

Reminder: We will be having a lock down drill on September 27.  I will be discussing with the students how to act in this situation.  Please make sure that you send "comfort packs" to school with your kiddo so we can be prepared.  I believe a letter was emailed to all the families about what to include in these packs.

*Funny kid quote of the week, said by a student with all sisters:  "This weekend, I am going to spend some time with my girls."

Another Great Week!

We had another great week! Each kiddo looked so great for picture day, and I can't wait to see the pictures.

Assessments went well. Please continue to work on ABC's with your child; both upper and lower case.  Also work on sounds the letters make.  I will continue to work on them in class. :)

Our new sight word for next week is "a."  I will also continue to work on the same reading strategies.

Our theme this week is shapes.  Feel free to point out different shapes to your child and talk about them.  We will go on a shape treasure hunt around the school campus on Thursday to see what shapes we can find.

Book boxes: As you complete the book boxes at home, send them in with your kiddo so we can share them throughout the week!

I put new pictures up to share with the families!  The kiddos loved chalk day!

*I thought I would start sharing funny quotes from the students that have made me giggle! Best one this week:  "Miss Lyon, I think I am in love with him!" :)
Thank you for sharing your little ones with me! We are learning so much from one another!
