We have two new sight words this week: the, is.

Another Great Week!
We had another great week! Each kiddo looked so great for picture day, and I can't wait to see the pictures.
Assessments went well. Please continue to work on ABC's with your child; both upper and lower case. Also work on sounds the letters make. I will continue to work on them in class. :)
Our new sight word for next week is "a." I will also continue to work on the same reading strategies.
Our theme this week is shapes. Feel free to point out different shapes to your child and talk about them. We will go on a shape treasure hunt around the school campus on Thursday to see what shapes we can find.
Book boxes: As you complete the book boxes at home, send them in with your kiddo so we can share them throughout the week!
I put new pictures up to share with the families! The kiddos loved chalk day!
*I thought I would start sharing funny quotes from the students that have made me giggle! Best one this week: "Miss Lyon, I think I am in love with him!" :)
Thank you for sharing your little ones with me! We are learning so much from one another!

I am so proud of all the kiddos. They are all starting to get use to being in school and have made great strides. I hope you all enjoy a nice long weekend.

I also sent home letters about assessments this week. If the date and time you are assigned to does not work, let me know and I will see how we can work it out.
*PICTURE DAY IS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH. I WILL BE SENDING A FLYER HOME TO REMIND YOU!

Week 2!
Our new sight word for the week is "can." We will continue to go over "we" and the same reading strategy. I will be sending home the homework folders this week. Some kiddos will have practice sheets in their folders. Take your time with these. They do not have to be turned in right away; I just wanted to give some extra practice. Feel free to duplicate these worksheets for further practice. All students will have a "we" mix it and fix it flash card. I hole punched these so that you can put them on rings and practice them throughout the year. We will begin writing practice and spend more time in centers this week.

Great Night!
It was great to officially meet everyone tonight. I look forward to working with all of you throughout the school year. All parent helpers will be asked to sign a Megan's Law form that can be found on the ILCS website. You can also ask Kelly at the front office if you can not find it. It takes some time to process so I will probably start the helpers in a month. Thank you again for coming this evening! I will talk to everyone soon!

First Day!
Today was our first day of school! We learned a lot of new things and will continue to go over rules until we all know them really well. Please continue to talk to your kiddos about how to act at school: Sit "criss cross apple sauce" on the rug and have "listening ears," have "walking feet" in the classroom and hallways, be respectful of others and class supplies, use restrooms and get drinks at recess so we can start cutting back on the amount used during class time.
*Back to school night is tomorrow at 5:30. We will all meet in the sanctuary to hear Dr. Gordon talk about Inland Leaders. We will then go back to the classroom to go over class protocol and sign up for parent helpers! PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY STUDENTS! I was told today that back to school night is for the parents ONLY! I look forward to seeing you all there!!
